Michigan Soldiers & Sailors Monument
The Michigan Soldiers and Sailors Monument has been relocated to a prominent location aligned with Woodward Avenue. The monument sits atop a new 4’-6”tall granite base with a built in seat ledge. The new base features four water tables, at the compass points, over which a thin sheet of water continuously flows.
Two Corner Markers anchor the north end of Campus Martius Park, providing beacons at the park entrances, and are visible for several blocks along Woodward Avenue and Monroe Street. The 22 feet tall works of art are fabricated from stainless steel, textured cast glass, and granite. The Monroe Marker is a representation of the Arts and Culture. The Woodward Marker is a representation of Industry and Technology. Each marker will be lit from within to glow at night.
