Botanical gardens surround the perimeter of Campus Martius Park, creating a showcase of color for those driving and walking around the park and encompassing those within the park. An explosion of color is achieved with spring bulbs, summer perennials, and fall foliage. The textures of winter will add to the gardens year-round interest.
Lawn Light & Vine Towers
Light towers of stainless steel and flowering vines flank the north and south lawns. The towers carry lighting and sound for day to day park use and also support specialty lighting and sound systems for performances on the Ford Performance stages. Additional lighting can be added for large performances.
The garden lights compliment the form of the larger lawn towers, but provide a more subdued light for the intimate setting of the gardens. Ambient sound is dispersed through the base, filling the gardens with quiet relaxing music.
Campus Martius Park features two recessed lawn panels. The lawns are ringed by granite steps which provide informal seating that faces into the park. The lawns can be used for informal activities, gathering, and relaxing in the sun.
A mix of shade and flowering trees define the gardens of Campus Martius Park with the canopy providing dappled shade to the sitting gardens. The canopy is maintained at a level that provides easy visibility into and through the park.
